The Electrical Safety Authority is seeking a Data Analyst to join our data team to help analyze trends and make analysis that contribute to our vision of creating an Ontario where people can live, work and play safe from electrical harm.
About the Job
The Data Analyst will join a team of data scientists/analysts to perform data and trend analysis and conduct data analysis of operations data and identify areas of deviation from objectives. The role will lead technical innovation, working directly with senior leadership and junior individuals alike to support teams across the company, including regulatory, operations, financial, legal, and people and culture with insights gained from analyzing internal and external datasets. Our team is small and agile, and you’ll collaborate with very smart, fun and driven colleagues.

About You
- The Data Analyst, needs to be curious and have a passion for data; in particular, they must have the ability to use data analytics to inform and guide business direction.
- Ability to communicate effectively through oral presenations and written reports
- Strong analytical abilities and problem solving skills
Quantitate and Qualitative Analysis Skillset
Demonstrate deep understanding of quantitative theories around client safety behaviors and triggers in use of analytics and be able to communicate, oral and written, effectively the analytical use cases both internally and externally. Understands methodological strengths and applicability of market research insights.
The role will monitor operational data to report performance metrics, identify gaps, and locate and define options to create efficiencies in operational processes.
Analyze model outputs and generate reports to provide recommendations to key stakeholders. Effectively communicate and present the results to key stakeholders and management
Statistics Background
You understand Design of Experiments and you have a background with process modelling and managing large data sets.
Decision Support Skillset
Provide advice and guidance on data science within the organization to help make sound safety decisions.
Ability to talk to the wider business, and stakeholders about data and best practices within the field.
Work closely with project managers to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and delivering actionable insights to relevant decision-makers.
Ability to pull out sage insights from broad data analysis, translate it into strategy and communicate it to disparate internal and external audiences.
Assists the consultation service to other teams in the business to demonstrate how they too can use data to drive results for the business.
Computer Skills
Comprehensive computer skills including database searching, PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheet analysis and online research.
Experience utilizing a Statistical Packages such as SAS, Stata, JMP and Minitab
Experience creating Data Visualizations using Power BI or Tableau
Education:
Successful completion of a four year university education with a Bachelor of Science or Administration or computer science or sociology or by having the equivalent level of education.
Experience:
4 years of progressive responsible experience in data management or adjacent fields (such as epidemiology).
Lean Six Sigma Certification or Six Sigma Certification is an asset.
